Orthodontic advancements are happening all the time! Our team at Morejón + Andrews Orthodontics is committed to studying all these new techniques and technologies to see how they can make your smile journey with us more comfortable and more efficient.
If you’ve been considering orthodontic treatment, now is a great time to start! With exciting, new treatment options and modern technologies at the ready, the journey to your dream smile has never been faster!
Let’s talk about the newest type of braces out there and the orthodontic technologies that we use to speed up your treatment process —while making sure you enjoy the experience along the way.
First up, the latest orthodontic technologies!
A few may be some you’ve heard of before, like digital x-rays, but they’re still an important part of the modern orthodontic treatment process.
At Morejón + Andrews Orthodontics, we use the following advanced orthodontic technologies to fully personalize your treatment with us and get you to your new smile as efficiently and comfortably as possible!
- iTero® Element Intraoral Scanner. This scanner allows us to take dental impressions quickly and comfortably, replacing the need for traditional putty impressions—no goop, no gagging! It creates a highly accurate 3D model of your teeth in just a few minutes, leading to more predictable results with Invisalign or braces.
- Digital iTero® Outcome Simulator. This same scanner can create an “outcome simulation” to show you a preview of your new smile before your treatment begins, whether you’re considering braces or Invisalign. Taking a look at your future smile is an exciting part of your orthodontic journey!
- Digital X-rays. Our digital X-rays produce high-quality images with radiation exposure that is As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA).
- SprintRay Pro S 3D Printer. We use this in-House 3D printer to create patient models and retainers in our office with high precision. It also reduces turnaround time and helps us keep treatment costs down for you!
What are the newest type of braces?
One of the newest type of braces and the most innovative out there is LightForce™ braces! These are clear 3D-printed braces that are fully customized to your smile—for each individual tooth. They’re smaller brackets than traditional braces and contour to the shape of each tooth to give you a seamless fit.
The LightForce braces process also uses a new braces technology with its own advanced treatment planning software, 3D printed braces, and custom 3D bonding trays. Making your braces placement appointment just as quick and easy as your entire LightForce smile journey!
In fact, these innovative braces and the technology used to create them can reduce your treatment length by up to 40% and require fewer office visits to our offices.
Are there any other new types of braces?
Self-ligating braces are another type of new braces that those new to the world of orthodontics aren’t familiar with. They look just like traditional braces at first glance, but use a special clip mechanism to hold in your archwires, allowing them to slide through the brackets. Their unique design reduces friction, allowing your teeth to move more freely and efficiently. And with less friction, there’s less discomfort!
Our GC EXPERIENCE® self-ligating braces come in metal and clear for a less noticeable look. Fewer adjustments and greater comfort make self-ligating braces a popular choice for kids and teens alike!
How has Invisalign® improved over the years?
Invisalign® treatment has also improved too – from the materials used to create your custom aligners to how your treatment is planned! These clear aligners are now made with patented medical-grade, clear, thermoplastic plastic called SmartTrack. They exert more consistent pressure on the teeth, resulting in more predictable movements and faster treatment times.
Here’s a few of the ways Invisalign treatment has improved today!
- 3D scanning. Our team uses a digital scanner called the iTero® Element to create 3D images of your teeth and gums.
- Digital treatment planning. Drs. Morejon and Andrews use digital tools to design and simulate your entire treatment process. This allows for more efficient treatment and the ability to make adjustments throughout your Invisalign transformation.
- Enhanced manufacturing techniques. Invisalign has streamlined its manufacturing processes which allows its labs to mold your aligner sets and ship them faster than ever before!
- Mandibular advancement. Invisalign can move your lower jaw forward, helping create space in your airway, and alleviating mild to moderate symptoms of sleep apnea.
- Outcome Simulator Pro. At your complimentary exam, you’ll get a sneak peek at your final smile results on our iTero scanner!
